Mod Descripton:
Duke Patrick's Old Man on the Mountain Quest.
Rev 1.4
by Duke Patrick (Knight in the SCA)
.................................................
Description:
This will be the first MOD to add Killer Bees to
Oblivion. As far as I know this will be a first of
its kind.
Introducing a new kind of portal to Oblivion. This
portal will allow you to see into it to the place
you are going like in the Half-life portals. It is
just a simple visual trick with subspace but I
think it gets the idea across in the game.
Included in the mod is voice acting by a real
little girl actress, a child race, new sound
effects, new special effects, new books, new types
of staffs and potions and ingredients, the new
type of portal, a new island made from files from
inside the game, not made by me but modified by
me, and 6 new amazing creatures, new items and
much more!
This work represents every single second of my
free time ( and some not so free time) for the
last 3 weeks.
I tend to play Hack and Slash characters. I was
getting tired of walking all over the realm to get
ingredients and them make potions to repair damage
done to my stats by creatures such as Willoswisps.
It was no fun for me and anyway a "sword jock"
would not do such a thing, they would buy it. But
I could not find a merchant to sell the "group" of
potions I needed to repair all the various stats
that would be damaged. I decided I should just be
able to find some old wise man on a mountaintop
that I could pay a sack load of gold to and have
him make a potion for me.
I have made many various well-received game
mechanics mods. (And a few not so well received.)
Such mods for the sword and shield fighters based
on my 30 years of real life medieval style heavy
weapons martial arts, all analyzed with my
knowledge of psychology and physics as a stage
magician and animatronics designer.
But until now I have never done a quest mod
before. I needed to learn some of the skills and
CS tools to do a quest, so I saw this as a good,
"over the weekend" kind of project. Put some old
guy on a mountain that would sell me very
expensive potions and I would learn a lot in the
process. As it turned out my creativity went into
overdrive and this project expanded a little...
It is a small quest, but I have spent 6 to 8 hours
a day for the last 3 weeks trying to make this an
entertaining quest with several unique surprises.
It is close to how I envision such PC sword and
shield adventure games should be within the
limitations of the CS and without changing all the
combat mechanics to my liking (which you can do if
you want to see how I would make PC game combat by
also using my SCA No Recoil combat mod.)
Hopefully once you get to play my Old man on the
mountain mod you will agree it was well worth my
time to make it and your time to play it.
Please excuse any written errors in the new books.
I am dyslexic and on top of that I have been
seriously ill for the last 3 days as I fished this
project up for publication. I did go over it many
times to try to catch the most obvious mistakes
and typos.
Warning, I do not follow the usual formula of
lesser opponents building up to an end boss. I
believe in using the formula I learned as a
magician for entertaining. You will meet my second
best first and then my best last with a particular
pattern of high and lows in-between. This is also
a formula Shakespeare used in writing plays. You
will need to have a 25 to 35 level character or
have a great deal of health potions on you and
good reflexes. (This means good timing not fast
twitch!)
If you have a 35th level character then you do not
need me to bore you with the details of how to
load and run this mod. If you do not know how to
uncompress the files to your data folder and check
the ESP to play the MOD than you are probably not
going to enjoy my mod anyway.
However, If you have a 10th level or maybe a 20th
give it a try with your lower level characters
anyway. As I play with sudden death mods (mods
that make weapons and creatures with more
realistic shorter reach but kill in a few strikes,
traps kill instantly, that throw larger numbers of
opponents at you instead of higher level
opponents, and so on) my mod may be far easer a
mod than I think it is.
Play it and let me know ok?
USE THE DIFFICULTY LEVEL SLIDER!
This increases your damage and decreases the
monsters damage.
This mod was tested with a 40th level character
with the slider in the middle. If you are 10th
level, slide down to the end of the slider. If you
are 20th level slide down to about the 1/4 from
the end of the slider. Adjust to your taste from
there!
I will remind you to back up your save game FIRST!
Go to the Main ingredient in the Imperial market
district to buy a pumpkin. Your adventure will
start there!
PLEASE PLEASE upload to other web pages for me.
I have very limited access to the web, so I only
upload here.
Legal:
The little fish is not may work, it came from
Tom's LIVEWATERS mod.
However all other work is either entirely my own
or modded from the original game.
.................
I worked very hard on this mod. It is a product
more of creativity, sweat and tears
than script writing talent. So please, I ask that
you give me credit if you use or distribute this
mod.
ATTENTION, if you use my Rumble Bees or any of
their files to make Bees you must use them all AS
IS and unedited! I want them intact and all their
attacks and abilities, stats and all else
maintained if used in other mods. Remember this is
not an Oblivion creature, but a strange creature
from a strange land. (My warped mind!) The rest of
my work including the "other creatures" I made are
not bound by this restriction. But I would still
like you to give me credit if you use or
distribute them in your mods.
You must know how to load my MODS last!
To date, here is the order to load all my mods for
proper functioning of my mods.
FIRST...
1. All your other mods
THEN ...
2. Duke Patrick's Zombie Flied 4p1.esp
2. Duke Patrick's magic you can believe in 4p5.esp
2. Duke Patrick's Lockpick challenge with
bandits.esp
2. Duke Patrick's Repair challenge v4.esp
2. Duke Patrick's Health Alarm with RED DEATH.esp
2. Duke Patricks Bob and Weave Dodge.esp
2. Duke Patricks Momentum Damage Bonus.esp
2. Duke Patrick's Jump Modifier.esp
2. Duke Patrick's Old Man on the Mountain
The Duke Patrick Mods above ( numbered 2.) are
stand alone mods and can be loaded in any order as
long as they are loaded after all your other
"non-Duke Patrick" mods and BEFORE my SCA mod!
Next should be...
3. Duke Patrick's The Lady Said NO! (optional mod
but best loaded after all the 2.)
And LAST...
4. Duke Patrick's SCA style combat NO RECOIL
Silver Edition 5p5.esp
5. Duke Patricks ShiveringIsles patch 1.1.esp (if
you have Shivering Isles and your are
using my SCA mod.)
6. Duke Patrick's So you think you are a war god
1.2.esp
7. Duke Patrick's more & better loot.esp
The Duke Patrick Mods above ( numbered 4,5,6,and
7.) MUST be loaded in the order shown above.
However number 6 and 7 are not required at all.
NOTE: NONE OF THE ABOVE MODS ARE REQUIRED TO USE
THE MOD "Duke Patrick's Old Man on the Mountain".
But I highly suggest you try my SCA style combat
NO RECOIL Silver Edition 5p5.esp for the full
experience of realistic combat. (As realistic as
is practical to do without changing the Oblivion
game engine.)
